It's a sign

Ok, confess....I took a taxi rather than cycling from Chelsea to Paddington. I had my reasons: in a moment of dual-sited inefficiency I left my Chelsea office this morning sans laptop.

As I leave Victoria I realise I need it as I'm off site tomorrow and Friday. So I leapt on my boris bike and peddled back to Chelsea.

The I get the text: Toby poorly. Have cancelled baby sitter but still want to be in Oxford for 8. Perhaps I leapt for the cab option too readily, and I'm sure the man flu is now seriously developing, but I got the sign how wrong I was and now I must pay the price.

In my haste to leave the cab, while gabbing on the phone about the finer points of resourcing managed service provision, I leave my trusty cycle helmet on the seat.

Penance indeed!

No turning back

So- very generous friends have got me to within a spitting distance of 20% of my slightly daunting target of £2,250.

That means there is no turning back now, and the training must start in earnest. The office move to Chelsea will no doubt provide many more boris biking opportunities which is great. Question is, will I ever be brave enough ditch the car completely and cycle the 6 miles to reading station every morning and evening? Sounds like a mini milestone to me!! Meantime looking forward to a good pedal this weekend, an will report back.

On another tread, it would seem I'm not the only one to fall for Crispin's persuasive powers. Seems Anne Diamond so enjoyed her BBC Radio Berkshire interview with him that she's considering the adventure too.....

Riding companion?
